Melbourne Victory FC Formation 2013

Melbourne Victory FC Soccer Formation

Creation DateDecember 14, 2013

Lineup (4-1-3-2)

Barbarouses · Thompson · Troisi · Finkler · Nichols · Milligan · Contreras · Galloway · Leijer · Traore · Coe

I chose this 4-1-2-1-2/4-3-3 (False 9) formation because I think it utilises all our players well.
The back four has been decent all season, but can sometimes be broken down easy by some of the oppositions attackers. This happens due to our players playing a higher line, which is most obvious when watching Jason Geria play as our RB, because he attacks too far up the field, which is why I chose Galloway as our right back. He is a guy who I think would play a different style as Geria.

Apart from the right back spot, I think the rest of the squad tells it self. Coe is an obvious starter in goals, Contreras and Leijer are also proper starters, but possibly one of the two could get subbed off for Nick Ansell. Traore has been one our best all season and deserves to start in left back.

In midfield, I think Milligan should be a lone CDM, not need for Broxham or Mahazi to f*** around! In centre-mid, Nichols would fit will there because of the fact he has pretty good passing, same as Finkler, who I think has been wasted starting on the bench this season.

Troisi has been one of the best,if not, THE best Victory player this season, and leads our goals scoring list this season. I think playing him as a striker would be kind of a waste, because like Nichols and Finkler, Troisi can pass well, dribble well and assist our two strikers, as well as score our goals, which is why an attacking mid/centre forward role would fit him good.

Barbarouses as a striker is a bit of a risk, but he is still a very decent player and I think he has potential to score a lot more goals than what he currently has. Archie Thompson is one of the most experienced players and is aging, yet still finds himself in our starting XI. This has got to be because he is so dedicated, and also tries his hardest to score our goals, (which he still does) so he is a good enough fit as our starting striker this season.
