i know rooney and kagawa is a bit offensive in the central midfield and could probably be run over easily. but is this not the kind of formation barcelona uses? (xavi and iniesta are also quite offensive players in the central midfield - no typical box to box midfielders as well)
i know rooney does not want to play in such a central position. hence if you give him some games within this position and he plays well i do belive he will get comfortable with it.
