Sheffield United Football Formation
Lineup (4-2-2-2)
George Long · Harry Maguire · Neil Collins · Simon Lappin · Tony Mcmahon · Conor Coady · Michael Doyle · Jose Baxter · Febian Brandy · Lyle Taylor · Marlon KingGeorge Long- Top goalkeeper, easy decision.
Tony- Not in best of form, played well V Crawley, needs more freedom to get forward and get QUALITY crosses in.
Neil and H- Lacking pace but should be OK if mistakes are cut out of game.
Simon- Very poor debut, needs game time, however offers a lot going forward. Possible competition from Sean Mcginty (better defensively, worse attacking).
Conor and Micky- Allow both fullbacks to get forward, Micky sitting in for fullbacks, Conor playing further forward. Allows Doyle to receive ball from defence and work with Conor to get attacking midfielders/forewords involved. Smoother process. Both can break play up. Experience from Doyle, talent from Conor. Could possibly try Flo instead if Doyle however may lack experience and fight in centre of midfield.
Jose Baxter- not a natural wide player but can tuck in and allow Tony to get past him or cut inside to work behind two forwards. Seems to be 'hiding' a bit in games since joining. Must want the ball more and have confidence to travel with ball.
Febian- Pace should allow him to get past opposing fullback, also cut inside and work as a two with Jose. Tracking back not been great but by playing two defensive midfielders should give him more leeway.
Marlon-fitness may not be perfect. Not huge issue. Focus on holding play up-feeding two wide players or Lyle then getting in box.
Lyle-not shown anything outstanding. However offers Marlon more options when holding play up. Could also use pace to beat a player. Would be replaced by Miller when fit.
Overview:
May be seen as defensive but by having extra cover at back through Doyle and Coady, not as much pressure on wingers and fullbacks to worry about lack of numbers at back.
By playing two strikers, losing out on a better quality midfielder, however SHOULD produce more goals. Shaun Miller will fit in perfect.
Subs:
Mark Howard
Sean Mcginty-offers cover at left and centre back.
Darryl- could work well as attacking fullback.
Flo- lots of talent, strong competition for Doyle. Lacks aggression that Micky has.
Jamie Murphy-not seen close to the best of him. Could work well in wide position or forward with Marlon. Needs to hit form.
Harry Bunn- Promising young player?
Ryan Hall- pacey, maybe not enough fight. Could work well as impact.
Injuries
Cal Mcfadzean- Slight injury atm. Can be very exciting in wide position. Offers extra competition. When fit allow Hall to return?
Shaun- what may be missing. Plays on shoulder, excellent finisher. Would work well with Marlon.
Diego- very promising. Should be close to first team when fully fit. Excellent balance, can take on players. Competition for wide players.
