A 4-3-3 is probably the most common formation in this day.
It doesnt exacly look like a 4-3-3 though when you put your head to it you can see the formation clearly.
The field is divided into thrids

The 3 in the middle which are shaped in a triangle are the mid-fielders, they sit in the middle third

The 3 up the front are known as the attackers, the ones that score goals and they sit in the front third
