I meant this to read 3-2-3-2, but it could be translated as a 5-3-2. No wingbacks, Johansson and Gonzalez maintain their wide fullback position with less offensive indication (not a problem for Gonzalez, perhaps a problem for AJ). Instead, the centerback defensive responsibility falls to Alonso and Joseph to come back and cover frequently. With more bodies forward in the attack, their presence in the final third would be less needed. They could afford to hold back and stay as CBs. However, they would be the engine of the offense, holding and regaining possession, distributing the ball, and moving the team forward. They would be offensive CBs more than defensive midfielders.
