Czechoslovakia "Runners-Up XI" (1962)

Czechoslovakia reached final following a number of good shows in the World Cup, and flawless performance from the Czech defence, until the Final. The Final was a different story, as Garrincha took the Czech defensive line for a roller-coaster ride, and Brazil defended their 1958 World Cup successfully.

In the road to the final, Czechoslovakia defeated West Germany and Yugoslavia too. This was the second time, and the last time Czechoslovakia reached the World Cup Final after 1934. Currently Czechoslovakia is no more - it is divided into Czech Republic and Slovakia respectively. However, the 1962 final will remain (along with 1934 final) as the finest moment of the country before it was divided.
