Sweden "Runners-Up XI" (1958)

Sweden played with a 3-2-5 formation (instead of 3-4-3 as indicated). However, hosts Sweden and Europe witnessed the exceptional brilliance of Brazil and emergence of young geniuses like Pelé and Garrincha playing along side the wizards like Didi, Nilton Santos and others.

Sweden did everything they could to reach the finals, but couldn't do anything against Brazil and lost the final by 5-2, allowing Brazil (playing a pioneering 4-2-4 formation) to win the World Cup for the first time.
