This was the fabled team that routed England 6-3 and 7-1 in England's home and away matches respectively. The formation that they used was more of 2-3-3-2.
Hidegkuti played deep lying centre-forward and tormented England in both games, while Puskás and others just were magnificent as usual. It was a myth-shattering confirmation that English Football was inferior than the better teams from the rest of the world.
The "Golden Team" or "Magical Magyars" as they were known, this Hungary team justifiably won everything that stood in their way for 4 years (1950-1954), including the Olympic; only to be cruelly beaten in that ill-fated final of 1954 World Cup.
Reserves include :- Mihály Tóth, Sándor Gellér, Jenő Dalnoki, Imre Kovács, Lajos Csordás and Péter Palotás.
