I chose this formation because it gives a solid defense with a strong attack. Having Schweinsteiger as a defensive mid he can play the long balls and with Ozil in front of him he can choose to either play it wide or create something in the middle. I like having Lahm and Boateng playing left and right backs, because it gives them a chance to get forward and support the attack. Having Gotze and Muller on the flanks is great, because they can cut in and take shots with their strong foot. Podolski and Gomez up top creates a problem for the opposing defense, because Gomez is so big and having Podolski underneath him and on the right a little bit gives him the chance to have shots with his strong foot. And Manuel Neuer is the best keeper Germany has.
