Aston Villa's most starting formation in 2011-12, the 4-2-3-1. As the season is coming to a close, they lie 16th in the Premier League and have had a poor season. However, they have survived on goal difference means it is impossible for QPR and Bolton to overtake and relegate them, although they are not mathematically safe. So Villa fans can breathe, and their proud Premier League record is preserved for another season.

They will have to do better next season, and hope Darren Bent and Gabriel Agbonlahor's goals guide them back into their traditional mid-table spot.
