A couple of weeks ago, Wigan fans would have probably been a bit glum and would have been planning next season in the Championship, but an amazing run of form has seen them climb to 16th in the table, three points above the relegation zone with two games to play. This formation was fielded in yesterday's 4-0 crushing victory over Newcastle.

The amazing form has seen them beat teams like Arsenal and Manchester United (using a 3-4-3 formation). Roberto Martinez could keep the Latics up, and few would have believed back in 2005 that Wigan would stay in the Premier League for seven seasons, perhaps an eighth season if they avoid the drop.

Wigan seem like Barcelona, and here's what I think is Wigan's equivalent of so-and-so:

Wigan's version of Lionel Messi is Victor Moses. Antolin Alcaraz is Wigan's version of Gerard Pique, James McCarthy like Xavi and Martinez like Pep Guardiola (obviously, even though Guardiola is quitting the Barcelona post at the end of the season).

Wigan can still stay up, and they were the first team to beat Arsenal and United back-to-back, after Southampton in 2001.
