England Formation 2011

England Football Formation

Creation DateOctober 9, 2011

Lineup (4-3-3)

Hart · Terry · Jones · A Cole · Smalling · Parker · Cleverley · Wilshere · Young · Welbeck · Rooney

GK- picks itself. Only keeper worthy of the shirt at the present time.

RB- Smalling is more defensively aware than other options and has proved this season he gets forward as well as johnson and walker. M richards is overrated in both departments.

CBs- Terry is captain so will be there, jones adds pace and power to the defence and has been outstanding for utd, whereas the unpacey Cahill's team is languishing at the bottom of the league and shipping goals.
Jones carries the ball very well and already has a few assists this season but DM must be aware to drop back when he does.
Take Rio as back-up. Hes a class act and a winner.

LB- picks itslef (best LB in the world for years). Baines deputising... unless Poland is too far away from home for him. Otherwise Gibbs or Warnock but hopefully wont need them as Ashley is everpresent.

CMs- Parker holding will allow the youthful, pacey and incisive pairing of wilshere/cleverley to shine. 2 deep lying playmakers who move well and give the ball to the forwards, instead of trying to bomb on and not have the legs to get back, leaving massive gaps in midfield (*cough* lampard). Clev/Wilsh both get stuck in and can tackle when the team needs to defend.
Parker is disciplined enough to stick to his position and allow those that can play to play. Saying that, his passing is top notch and tackling is up there with the best.
Gerrard's best days are behind him but still has the quality to impact games from the bench but fear is that injuries would limit his agilty/pace.

FWs- Young is the best left sided attacker in the Prem on current form and already has an understanding with Rooney and Welbeck, so why break up a good thing? This attack comprises of pace, power, delivery, fluid movement.. and lots of goals.
Carroll would be an option as a sub for Youngs delivery but lacks pace, agility and intelligence. Bent a replacement for Rooney as he works the channels (making space for Young et al, and his goal scoring record is incredible. Top finisher). Sturridge a good shout for ther right side but welbeck works well wtih his Utd colleagues and Downing is an OK back-up for young.
Walcott is watching from his living room.
