Incidents: Dida was hit with a flare thrown from the stands by Inter fans, who had become enraged after referee Markus Merk disallowed a goal after Dida was fouled inside the box during a corner, prompting the match to be suspended for 20 minutes for Dida to receive medical assistance and to restore order.
Dida was unable to recover from the hit and was eventually replaced by Abbiati and the match resumed, but was definitively suspended as Inter fans threw another volley of debris making it impossible for the match to continue peacefully.
UEFA awarded AC Milan a 0-3 win, making it 5-0 on aggregate, as AC Milan won the first leg 2-0.
