Incident: The game was delayed at the 72nd minute with AC Milan leading 1–0 due to flares thrown onto the pitch by Internazionale fans, one of which struck AC Milan keeper Dida, after referee Markus Merk disallowed an Internazionale goal from a corner kick after he judged that the AC Milan keeper was fouled inside the area
After 15 minutes, the game was restarted only to be permanently abandoned due to the intemperance of Inter supporters
UEFA awarded Milan a 0-3 win (5–0 aggregate) and ordered Internazionale to play their next four European games behind closed doors
