Aston Villa Football Formation
Lineup (4-3-3)
Bosnich · Cuellar · Mellberg · Delaney · Samuel · Barry · Grealish · Milner · Agbonlahor · A. Young · AngelAston Villa were always an obvious team for me to be in this league. Much like Blackburn and Bolton they were teams that were always in the PL as I grew up (obviously not so much more recently). All 3 teams also had a very good spell where they were pushing for European places and looked like they had real direction. The line up gave me a bit of trouble, as there were many good strikers and many different ways to set up the team. As it stands I have opted for what I feel is a very solid and reliable back 5, all of them having a good history with the club. The idea of the midfield was that in Milner and Barry there are two of the most reliable midfielders in the game. Not only that but they can both cover several positions in the team, meaning there is a great deal of flexibility within this team. Jack Grealish. whilst still young, I feel is a very talented individual. With the steadfast midfielders beside him not only does he have real quality alongside him (which he lacks at the moment), but it also gives him the freedom to really influence the game. The attacking options don't require too much explanation. Young (although at times is a pudding), is unquestionably talented, there is a reason Manchester United signed him. He is also another versatile player would could drop into several positions throughout a game. Agbonlahor is the 4th highest scorer in the clubs history and has pace that can trouble most teams - especially on the counter. The man in the middle was a tough one, however I was always a fan of Angel and his clinical finishing makes him a permanent threat. There are many honourable mentions: Friedel, Guzan, Reina, Luke Young, Staunton, Hendry, Petrov, Carbone (who only had one season but I really wanted him in this PL), Dublin, Bent, Joachim and the lighting fast and hard to catch - Darius Vassell. Captaincy goes to Barry, although there are so many options in this team. The manager has to be Martin O'Neal, he made Aston Villa the most exciting team they have even been, or at least in my lifetime.
