Lineup (4-2-3-1)

Cech · Carvalho · Terry · Ivanovic · Le Saux · Makélélé · Lampard · Hazzard · Zola · Robben · Drogba

The idea of this team is that the defence is pretty much what it was under Mourinho's prime, with the exception of Le Saux (as Cole was taken by Arsenal, as I would rather see them do a little better). I am then thinking that Makélélé would cover the defence, whilst Lampard gets a bit of free reign behind the attacking line up, looking for the space to either break forward or unleash his ferocious shots on the edge of the box. I feel this line up gives Zola the creative freedom he needs to thrive, and I can't help but think he would link up really well with Drogba. Whilst I dislike Drogba, it is hard to argue that he isn't Chelsea's greatest striker of the Premier League. Whilst Zola and Drogba can have their interplay, that leaves Hazzard and Robben to cause mayhem out wide, cutting in to support the attacks when they want. Whilst Robben had a lot of injury problems at Chelsea, there was no-one I dreaded more, than when he came on against us in the last 15-20 minutes of a game. He could be unplayable on his day. The team is set up narrow as it seems to suit Chelsea and Mourinho (who is the manager of course). But the wide attackers do offer the option to pull wide and give the centre two more freedom. Honourable mentions are Azpilicueta, Desailly (who I desperately wanted to put in, but couldn't overlook the partnership of the 2 CBs), Wise, Essien (who lost out at the last minute to Makélélé due to Claude's defensive abilities), Petrescu and Gudjonsson. The captain and manager go without saying, Terry and Mourinho.
