It could be weird, that Di Maria is a wing back in this formation, but as well as i know his defensive abilitiy is as good as it is needed. And in the modern football, the wing backs are playing a very important role during the attack, because they can make the pitch wider, while they help to the attackers at the wings. If Di Maria goes up with the attack, Zanetti goes back to left wing back, to provide stability of the defensive line.

So my formation: Carrizo - Zabaleta, Burdisso, Garay, Di Maria - J. Zanetti, Cambiasso - Pastore - Messi, Aguero, Higuain
