Since Aitor Karanka likes to use tiki-taka as his playing technique, and the most useful method is moderate defence-attack, he used 4-1-2-3 with Ward and Brereton applying the finishing touch up front, Dowell at CAM, McKay and Osborn applying the width alongside Figuereido at RB and Fox at LB and Bridcutt at CDM helping the two centre-backs, Mills and Mancienne.
