Lineup (4-4-1-1)

The back line is fairly straight forward with Agger being able to rotate with sktel and Kyrgiakos as back up for carra. Flanno and Kelly will provide strong cover for left and right (cissoko of course is unconfirmed but heres hoping).

Lucas's performance last season cements his holding role and Adam's distribution will provide supply to the more advanced players. Downing should provide strength on the left, although he is seen as overpriced, it is often not mentioned that he is also strong defensivly and will be asked to provide some cover for the left back. Gerrard has to have a liscence to roam but while his role is relativly central and he will be able to attack the box, there is some requirment to provide support down the right. Johnson's tendency to get forward, however, will provide an additional supply line to the strickers, with Carra drifting to the flank to provide cover during counter attacks.

Up front Suaraz's penetrating runs will be invaluable and he will have liscence to find space where he sees fit. Carrol provides a target man and seems strong in holding up the play. At £35 mill, though, I hope he will also provide alot more as well.

Of the subs. Kuyt provides the ability to switch to a more traditional 4-4-2 when required and Meireles gives a strong alternative if stevie needs to be rested or suffers injury. Both Maxi and Joe Cole provide versatility so can cover various positions as well as allow for further variation in formation. Lets hope also to see some more from the young lads who did so well last season, both in the first team and the reserves.
