Celtic Football Formation
Lineup (4-4-2)
Gordron · Sviatchenko · Toure · Tierney · Lustig · Bitton · Brown · Roberts · Sinclair · Dembele · GriffithsGordron- Need the shot stopping, on the line skill. De Vries has very good distribution but that's not a priority against City.
Tierney- Speed up the line, crossing ability. Has had some decent efforts on target lately.
Sviatchenko- Strong center back with tons of potential. Finally hitting his stride at Celtic, relishes big matches.
Toure- An experienced, confident defender who rarely makes mistakes. Has played against City a dozen times at least.
Lustig- Experience is key. This is not a game for Gamboa or Janko. Lustig is very defensive minded, and still quick considering his age.
Bitton- Bitton is Celtic's unsung hero. Constantly open in support, Bitton has a pass completion rating in the 80s, and wins a majority of challenges in the middle third.
Brown - The Celtic captain refuses to let the ball go these days, making him an excellent link between Bitton and the forwards. The two center mids have developed a partnership that looks solid and possession oriented.
Sinclair- Another player with Premier League experience, Sinclair has been unstoppable on the left so far. His skill on the ball will help to capitalize on the small number of chances Celtic will be able to create against City.
Roberts- The most controversial pick on this list. While James Forrest is in incredible form, we can't forget the phenomenal performances put in by Roberts thus far. With dribbling skill already on par with Scott Sinclair, this player is constantly getting better. In a match against the club that loaned him to us, he'll be eager to show exactly how much he's learned about how hard he can work.
Dembele- This match will be all about playing solid, structured defense while still having the numbers to catch City on the break. Playing Dembele in a deeper, False Nine role will allow him to pick the ball up from a clearance and still have Griffiths ahead of him. We can't count on any mistakes from the Manchester defense, so we need a strike partnership.
Griffiths- Freshly back from injury with a goal scored and a penalty won against Kilmarnock, Griffiths competes the partnership up top. Leigh will be hungry to get back on top of the scoring chart, and will use his speed to get on the end of long passes from Bitton/Brown, through balls from Dembele, and crosses from the fullbacks. We know how incisive Griffiths can be in front of goal, put him there and get him service.
