-----------------------------------------
The victory for Germany was long overdue, given their consistently high level of performances in the clubs and National team.
Ideally Germany would have won the 2010 World Cup, had the luck not betrayed them most cruelly while losing to an inferior Spanish side, despite playing superior and entertaining Football. Germany made amends in this World Cup 2014, by defeating all the traditional powerhouses in Football, quite convincingly. Germany defeated Portugal, France, Brazil and Argentina in this World Cup only. Obviously they were the worthy champions. In the semi-final, the fluent Germany destroyed a severely weakened Brazil team by 7-1 to register the hosts worst defeat in last 80 years. Veteran striker Klose there scored his record-breaking 16th World Cup Goal, beating the Brazilian legend Ronaldo's World Cup goals tally. However, throughout the tournament the entire Germany team performed superbly. Manuel Neuer multiple times played as Goalkeeper cum Defender cum Sweeper-Back, and duly justified his reputation as the World's best Goalkeeper, particularly in a tournament where some of the best ever Goalkeeping has been on display (from the likes of Guilermo Ochoa, Keylor Navas, Tim Howard, Sergio Romero and others). Hummels, Boateng, Lahm were rock-solid in defense, while Khedira, Schweinsteiger were instrumental in blocking opposition attacks and creating chances. Kroos, Müller, Özil, helped the likes of Klose, Podolski, Schürrle, Götze to score Goals and create chances a plenty.
Mario Götze scored the winning Goal in the eventual Final in the 112th minute (which possibly is the best Goal of the tournament), after substituting the legendary Klose. The veteran making way for the rookie, was symbolic in the sense of change of guard for the German Football. And with the talent, youth, technique, skills and hunger in display, the future of German Football seems to be in safe legs. :-)
