This formation can be good to defend counter attacks and create counter attacks. If the forwards, midfielders, and the full backs come forward to attack there will still be three defenders including a middle defender shielding them and defending. In defense, the central defender and middle defender can join the fullbacks and center backs to defend. This formation can help create counter attacks as well. If in a clearance the central can can receive the ball and guide the counter attacks by giving it to one of the wingers or the attacking midfielder to advance the ball.
